The following STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programs were offered in the 2018-2019 school year.

PTO pays a majority of the class fees to ensure the classes can be within reach for all our students (also a few needs based scholarships available).

Availability of these and/or other STEM programs along with pricing will be announced for the 2019-2020 school year throughout the school year!

STEM Engineering using LEGO Materials

Does your child love LEGOs?! Trace PTO is excited to sponsor another wonderful after-school enrichment class for our students.

Intro to STEM using LEGO (K-1st grade)

Build engineer-designed projects such as Fire Trucks, Eiffel Tower, Space Stations, and Tugboats using LEGOs! Design, build, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment.

STEM Fundamentals using LEGO (2nd-3rd grade)

Power up your engineering skills with Play Well TEXnologies and LEGOs! Apply real-world concepts in engineering, physics, and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as the Eiffel Tower, Space Stations, Tugboats, and Hot Air Balloons! Explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment.

Video Game Programming

This is a STEAM ​​(Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) ​enrichment program that introduces students to the fundamentals of coding video games.

Game Programming with Stencyl – Beginners’ Course (2nd-5th grade)

Stencyl uses drag and drop features to design and create awesome video games that your kids can continue to develop at home. Concepts covered will include:

  • Game Design
  • Programming
  • Logical Thinking
  • Artificial Intelligence

Building Space Games with Stencyl – Intermediate Course (2nd-5th grade)

Design your very own Spacecraft and develop a space game using your custom made designs. Concepts covered will include:

  • Planning a 2d video game
  • Animated graphics image design
  • Character and level design
  • Building a game from scratch

Student’s must either take the Game Programming with Stencyl Beginner’s Class or have taken and completed the Stencyl Game Programming Class last year at Trace to enroll in this Intermediate course.
